First day of Summer and time to get the car ready for plenty of cruising.


First cruise will be for a wedding for some friends of ours in Paraparaumu.

Converting Manual Top to Power Top


I worked out from all the pictures on the internet and various other convertibles that  I have seen in the flesh, that this seems to be the correct location for the roof top switch, top of the switch is positioned half way through the wiper switch. I took particular notice of cars that had power roof factory standard.









Just a quick note when positioning switch remember to allow enough space for a fog light switch if you want to put one in at a later stage.



Use Thread sealant on all hydraulic lines stops leaks and a mess later on.
Easy to use and seals well.

I used Virginia Classic Mustang USA made rams they are a little more expensive but they recommended them, they have a higher quality internal parts and are exact replacement parts.

I used the same fluid that the transmission uses as directed by instructions given with new pump and hydraulic rams.




Here's a pump mount needed to mount the pump securely behind the back seat. 
I purchased all my parts off Virginia Classic Mustang, its a good idea to get everything from one supplier that way everything should match up well.


Went through a few cycles of up & down being careful not to extend too far.





1965 had just a circuit breaker mounted at the solenoid.


Had to make a hole in the right location on the firewall there was a little dimple just like the one to the right.


All mounted and ready to put the back seat in.












 Roof top cover fits on well just takes a little patience and technique, I worked out the best way is to do all the domes on the outside first then finish with the inside dome near the seat then finally the centre strip.
